Engineering Manager - Whangarei

Permanent Full Time

  • Deliver a sustainable Total Productive Maintenance program

  • Encourage, support and increase effective communication channels across site

  • Optimise focus around safety, quality, efficiency and cost

Our Whangarei team have achieved some substantial production and engineering improvements in the past 12 months and are highly focused on taking the site to the next level. This is an opportunity for our next Engineering Manager to actively participate and be a part of daily safety, quality, efficiency and cost discussions, ensuring your people communicate willingly and effectively with their customers across production and to resolve issues and achieve proactive solutions.

Exposure to or ideally leading the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or similar methodologies will be advantageous.  Working examples of results you’ve achieved focused on equipment uptime and addressing the causes for deterioration while creating the correct environment between operators and equipment to create ownership will be expected.

As an active member of our site leadership team, you’ll have superior interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with your peers and bring them along with you on the preventative maintenance journey. Naturally successful in building an appetite for success across teams and developing your people, you’ll be a resilient leader and progressive thinker who operates well under pressure and can adopt imaginative ways to contribute whilst minimising spend.

Major activities you’ll be accountable for will include optimising plant availability and efficiency to meet health and safety; production objectives; project management; to run a cost effective site operation; developing and executing business plans; leading and coaching people (a team of 20), and achieving Carter Holt Harvey Woodproducts ‘House of Excellence’ continuous improvement program relating to safety, quality, efficiency and cost (SQEC).

An exceptional opportunity to join a business and team that thrives on results and is open to new ways of operating, you’ll work with an action oriented and well respected Site Manager, who provides the latitude for his leadership team to get on and deliver. There are always going to be a mix of wins versus tough days in a job like this therefore you’ll be someone who understands the importance of learning from each experience, having fun and celebrating the wins.

If you’re up for the challenge, the reward is satisfaction and knowing you helped build something real.

This is a career opportunity where you can really excel and develop your own personal skill set. You can expect a market competitive remuneration package including base salary plus benefits.
