Maintenance Day Fitter - Kawerau

We are looking for a self-motivated, mechanical tradesperson with experience in maintenance and repair of industrial plant machinery within a manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to work in a high paced, cutting-edge sawmill within a great team.

This opportunity is based at our Kawerau Mill, where you’ll be reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, and is available for immediate start. Normal hours are 10-hour days Tuesday – Friday, with 1 rostered weekend per month.

Key responsibilities:

• Take ownership of your own area, performing preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on plant equipment and machinery
• Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues
• Planning and executing corrective maintenance, to maintain plant reliability and minimise downtime
• Completing work to a high standard utilising best practice
• Work closely with the production teams to improve equipment reliability and drive optimisation
• Maintain and update records including bills of materials, PM’s, manuals, drawings and SAP records
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
• Quality assurance of any work carried out by external contractors

What you bring to the role: 

• Mechanical trade qualification (NCME level 4 or 5)
• Demonstrated experience in fitting and welding
• Strong mechanical aptitude with fault finding and problem-solving skills
• Computer literacy
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Have a strong Health & Safety focus
• Ability to work well in a team
• Machining experience (beneficial)
• SAP experience (beneficial)
